Vietnam Airlines Diverts Flight to Da Nang for Emergency Medical Assistance
Passenger’s Health Deteriorates, Vietnam Airlines Flight to Hanoi Makes Emergency Landing in Da Nang
Flight VN1602, operated by an Airbus A321 from Buon Ma Thuot to Hanoi, made an emergency landing at Da Nang International Airport at 11:19 AM on January 11 to provide urgent medical assistance to a passenger in need.
Approximately one hour after takeoff, passenger T.D.H, seated at 17E (Vietnamese nationality), experienced a medical emergency. Two doctors onboard examined the passenger and determined that the heart rate was dangerously high, requiring immediate hospitalization.
The captain promptly notified Vietnam Airlines’ Operations Control Center and requested an emergency landing at Da Nang Airport, in accordance with passenger T.D.H’s wishes to receive timely medical assistance.
Flight VN1602 subsequently resumed its journey to Hanoi, taking off again at 12:08 PM, resulting in a delay of about two hours compared to the original schedule.
Vietnam Airlines has, on multiple occasions, delayed flights or conducted emergency landings to provide critical assistance to passengers experiencing serious health issues.
While diverting a flight for an emergency landing consumes significant resources and incurs additional costs related to rescheduling, refueling, and ground services, ensuring the safety and well-being of passengers remains Vietnam Airlines' utmost priority.
