Education Vietnam Airlines Joins Hanoi Police to Donate a Green Library to Students in Mountainous Areas 02/04/2024 This is an activity where Vietnam Airlines supports the campaign “Pride of the Northwest – Following in the Footsteps of Our Ancestors,” launched by the Hanoi Police, in celebration of the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu victory (May 7, 1954 – May 7, 2024). The Mường Chà Town Secondary School in Mường Chà District, Điện Biên Province, has a total of 437 students. Located in a difficult area (district II of the town), 58% of the students are from ethnic minority backgrounds, with 241 out of 437 students benefiting from state policies. The school currently does not have a dedicated reading room or library, and its facilities are still lacking. Vietnam Airlines’ contribution to building and donating a Green Library here helps provide a more comfortable reading space, enabling students to explore and absorb a vast world of knowledge, while simultaneously improving the quality of teaching and learning in the area. As the national carrier, Vietnam Airlines always takes the lead in implementing social programs to spread humanistic values, support disadvantaged communities, and bring benefits to society. Previously, Vietnam Airlines has organized numerous activities for education and children, such as the inauguration and donation of a library to the Đoàn Kết Primary and Secondary School in Đoàn Kết Commune, Tràng Định District, Lạng Sơn Province — a particularly disadvantaged area with a population consisting entirely of ethnic minorities. The airline also organized Dream Trips 1 and 2 for hundreds of orphaned children; collaborated with international medical organizations like Operation Smile, Facing The World, and Vietnam Heartbeat to organize "Donate Miles" campaigns, with the goal of supporting 1,100 surgeries for cleft lips and palates, 180 complex head-neck surgeries, and screening and heart surgeries for 35,000 children in remote, particularly difficult regions. This year, alongside its Green Library donation, Vietnam Airlines is sponsoring the 2024 National Tourism Year – Điện Biên and the Ban Flower Festival as the official carrier. The airline has also doubled its flight frequency to Điện Biên from March 6 to March 30, 2024. The "Pride of the Northwest – Following in the Footsteps of Our Ancestors" program took place over four days, from March 30 to April 2, 2024, with a series of special activities such as traditional education and activities in Điện Biên Phủ city, Điện Biên district, and Tuần Giáo district; organizing community engagement, volunteer activities, and donating gifts to schools, armed forces, and disadvantaged people in Mường Chà, Mường Lay, Điện Biên Province, and Sìn Hồ and Phong Thổ districts in Lai Châu Province.
