VIETNAM AIRLINES WEBSITE ATTACKED BY HACKERS

Hanoi, July 29th, 2016 - Vietnam Airlines (VNA) would like to notify an incident occurring to the IT system of the company as follows:

Around 16:00 on July 29th 2016, VNA's official website was seized control and transferred to a malicious website abroad. Data of a number of VNA's frequent flyers was made public. At 17:10 pm, VNA's website was restored to normal, closely monitored and controlled.

By 18 pm the same day, VNA's attacked IT system and data were isolated and gradually controlled. IT experts from Network Security Department (Ministry of Public Security), Authority of Information Security and Vietnam Computer Emergency Response Team (Ministry of Information & Communication), FPT and Viettel exerted great efforts in supporting VNA to handle the incident.

VNA is now deploying proactive contingency plans, working in close coordination with airport security units to tighten control of passengers at airports in order to ensure normal operation, as well as implement necessary measures to ensure customers' benefits. Passengers are recommended to arrive at the airport earlier than usual to complete check-in procedures.

Regarding the data of Lotusmiles Program Membership, VNA has initially taken control of the entire data and will implement measures to ensure the best benefits for our members. Lotusmiles members are kindly requested to change the account password immediately after the system is fixed.
