Medical Vietnam Airlines Supports Free Transportation of Vaccines for the National Expanded Immunization Program 19/01/2024 Vietnam Airlines is expected to transport approximately 7.4 million doses of various vaccines free of charge, with a total volume of nearly 20 tons. The first shipments began in January 2024. "Vietnam Airlines is always ready to contribute to public health efforts and help minimize the risk of dangerous disease outbreaks. This commitment reflects one of our core missions as the national flag carrier: to fulfill our social responsibility and deliver meaningful value to the community," shared Mr. Đặng Anh Tuấn, Deputy CEO of Vietnam Airlines. The National Expanded Immunization Program has been implemented nationwide in Vietnam since 1985, providing free vaccines to localities for the immunization of children and pregnant women. Each year, millions of children and pregnant women receive free vaccinations against dangerous infectious diseases such as tuberculosis, diphtheria, pertussis (whooping cough), tetanus, hepatitis B, polio, measles, rubella, Japanese encephalitis, pneumonia, and meningitis caused by Hib bacteria. Healthcare support activities are a key part of "Flights of Love" – a long-running campaign by Vietnam Airlines aimed at bringing care and hope to the community. Over the years, the airline has actively partnered with domestic and international health agencies in initiatives such as transporting organs for life-saving transplants, supporting surgeries to bring smiles to children with congenital deformities, and facilitating training programs to enhance professional skills for Vietnamese medical personnel. Previously, during the COVID-19 pandemic, Vietnam Airlines was one of the pioneers in vaccine transportation for both domestic and international missions. In addition, the airline offered free transport for dozens of tons of medical supplies and supported the mobilization of more than 15,000 doctors, nurses, and logistical staff in the fight against the pandemic.
