Vietnam Airlines to resume operations at Kansai International Airport (Osaka, Japan)

Hanoi, 12 September, 2018 - Vietnam Airlines would like to announce that from 18 to 20 September, 2018, our services between Ho Chi Minh city and Osaka will be resumed with a frequency of 1 round-trip flight per day, and the flights will be operated by wide-body Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft.

In the meantime, Vietnam Airlines will also operate Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner instead of the narrow-body Airbus A321 between Hanoi and Nagoya to support affected passengers reroute from Osaka to Nagoya. 

Vietnam Airlines will update flight schedule in our next announcement. Passengers travelling to/from Kansai Airport during this period should regularly update information of flights on our Vietnam Airlines’ official Facebook page at ‪www.facebook.com/VietnamAirlines‬, Vietnam Airlines' website ‪www.vietnamairlines.com‬.

- Vietnam Airlines will cancel all flights between Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh city and Osaka (Kansai International Airport‬) until the end of 17 Sept.

- From 13 Sept to 14 Sept, Vietnam Airlines will operate wide-body aircraft Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner between Hanoi/Ho Chi Minh City and Nagoya to support affected passengers reroute. From 15 Sept to 17 Sept, depending on passenger's demand for switching route, Vietnam Airlines will consider the aircraft upgrade.

- Vietnam Airlines will cancel all flights between Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh city and Osaka (Kansai International Airport‬) from 8 Sept to 10 Sept.

- Vietnam Airlines will operate wide-body aircraft (Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner and Airbus A350-900XWB) on Hanoi/Ho Chi Minh City - Nagoya routes to support affected passengers.

Hanoi, 5 September, 2017 (updated at 21h30 GMT+7) - Vietnam Airlines regrets to announce that due to the impact of Typhoon Jebi in Japan, Vietnam Airlines will not run services on flights between Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh city and Osaka (Kansai International Airport‬) 7 Sept (flight number VN330, VN331, VN320, VN321).

Earlier today, 4 Vietnam Airlines flights between Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh city and Osaka on 6 Sept were cancelled. Until now, there are total 16 flights cancelled due to the impact of Typhoon Jebi.

Vietnam Airlines will assist affected passengers who have travel plan to/from Kansai Airport (Osaka) to other airports in Japan (Nagoya, Narita (Tokyo), Haneda (Tokyo), Fukuoka) at no extra cost upon request. In addition, Vietnam Airlines will consider operating the wide-body Boeing 787 (with more seats) to replace the current Airbus A321s which are now operating on Hanoi/Ho Chi Minh City and Nagoya routes to support affected passengers.

The bridge linking Kansai International Airport with the mainland has been damaged therefore operations at Kansai airport will continue to be disrupted in the next few days. Vietnam Airlines strongly advises passengers travelling to/from Kansai Airport during this period to consider alternative travelling options to other airports in Japan and reschedule travel plan accordingly.

Vietnam Airlines will announce information of regular flights as well as replacement flights to/from Kansai airport in the upcoming news.
