Unaccompanied minor service

Vietnam Airlines offers unaccompanied minor service and accompanying cabin crew service for minors between the ages of 2 and 14 who must travel without an adult in order to guarantee the "little passengers" a complete and safe flight.

Unaccompanied minors on Vietnam domestic itineraries

Children between the ages of 2 and 6 must be registered for the Unaccompanied Minor and Accompanying Cabin Crew services.

Children between the ages of 6 and 12:

  • Required service: Unaccompanied Minor;
  • Optional service: Accompanying Cabin Crew.

Children aged between 12 and 18 are not required to register for services or, optionally, to register for Minor/Accompanied or Crew services.

Unaccompanied minors on international itineraries

Children between the ages of 2 and 6 must be registered for the Unaccompanied Minor and Accompanying Cabin Crew services.

Children between the ages of 6 and 12:

  • Required service: Unaccompanied Minor;
  • Optional service: Accompanying Cabin Crew.

Children between the ages of 12 and 14:

  • Required service: Unaccompanied Minor (where a child with Vietnamese nationality on the flight from Vietnam to a foreign destination or with foreign nationality/statelessness on the flight from a foreign destination to Vietnam). In other cases, passengers may choose the unaccompanied minor service.
  • Optional service: Accompanying Cabin Crew.

Children aged between 14 and 18 are not required to register for services or, optionally, to register for Minor/Accompanied or Crew services.


Service booking

Booking the unaccompanied minor service

The child's parent/guardian can order the service in the following forms::

Option 1: At Vietnam Airlines’ sales offices

The guardian prepares the following forms and provides them to the sales office at least 24 hours before departure:

Option 2: Contact Vietnam Airlines Contact Center at 1900 1100 (for calls within Vietnam) or (+84-24)38320320 (for calls from outside Vietnam) at least 24 hours before departure.

Option 3: Register online via the Vietnam Airlines website under the unaccompanied minor registration form at least 36 hours before departure.

Booking the accompanying cabin crew service

To book the service, please contact Vietnam Airlines' sales office, keeping in mind the following timing:

  • At least 3 days before departure if your itinerary involves only Vietnam domestic sectors;
  • At least 5 days before departure if your itinerary involves one or more international sectors.

Documents for minors

The parent or guardian must prepare the child's travel documentation, documents supporting the child's relationship, and a baggage information form for unaccompanied minors (completely filled out).

Airfares for minors

An infant under the age of 2 who does not have a seat is charged 10% of the adult passenger's fare.

Children between the ages of 2 and 12:

  • On Vietnam domestic itineraries, apply 90% adult fare;
  • On international itineraries, apply 75% adult fare.

For children 12 years and older, apply adult fare.

How to determine a child's age

The age of passengers is calculated as of the departure date of the first flight of the itinerary, in which:

  • Infants are passengers under the age of two who have yet to achieve their second birthday.
  • Children are defined as passengers aged 2 to under 12 who have not yet reached their 12th birthday.
  • Passengers who are 12 or older are considered adults.

Passengers purchasing tickets for unaccompanied minors, please contact Vietnam Airlines' sales offices.


At the departure airport

At the departure airport, parents/guardians/authorized persons should note the following information:

  • The guardian and minor must be at the airport at least two hours before the scheduled departure time;
  • Carry the child's travel documents, documents supporting the relationship with the child, and a baggage information form for unaccompanied minors(completely filled out);
  • After completing all flight procedures for the minor, the guardian can leave the airport when the plane takes off.

At the arrival airport

At the arrival airport, parents/guardians/authorized persons should note the following information:

  • The person picking up the child must be at the airport at least 30 minutes before the scheduled landing time.
  • The person who picks up the child must present a complete identification document.  The information on the document must match the information used to register for the service.
