24/11/2024

Previously, upon receiving an urgent request from the National Coordination Center for Organ Transplantation, Vietnam Airlines promptly prioritized seat reservations and ticket issuance for the medical team from Việt Đức Hospital to fly to Ho Chi Minh City to receive the organs and transport them back to Hanoi the same day.

The special flight operated by Vietnam Airlines, with flight number VN214 from Ho Chi Minh City to Hanoi, carried a heart and other organs donated by a patient at Thống Nhất Hospital (Ho Chi Minh City).

Due to the strict time requirements for organ preservation, all boarding procedures for the medical team were carried out swiftly and carefully. From airport check-in to security screening and boarding, the team received priority assistance to ensure the fastest possible transfer. They were seated near the aircraft door and were quickly escorted off the plane after landing.

All passengers on the flight patiently and empathetically waited, as the airline had to delay takeoff by 27 minutes to allow the doctors to complete necessary procedures at the hospital before reaching Tân Sơn Nhất Airport.

As the national flag carrier, Vietnam Airlines has long been committed to community service, actively participating in the transportation of organs, patients, and specialized medical equipment for hospitals nationwide.

Since 2018, Vietnam Airlines has been working closely with the National Coordination Center for Organ Transplantation to facilitate organ transport, contributing to saving the lives of countless patients across the country.
