Union Flight 2024

28/01/2024

On the evening of January 29, 2024, Vietnam Airlines' flight VN218 departed from Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City, carrying workers from disadvantaged backgrounds back to their hometowns to celebrate Tet. This flight witnessed the joy of people who have been away from their hometowns for many years, as they were about to reunite with their loved ones and families.

On the flight, many workers had not returned to their hometowns for years due to the heavy burden of making a living. They had planned to stay during Tet to earn extra income for their families, but economic limitations also made it difficult for them to afford the travel expenses.

The dream of returning home seemed distant. Therefore, when they became special guests on the reunion flight, many were moved and shared, "It feels like a dream."

The flight took off from Tan Son Nhat at 6:00 PM and landed at Noi Bai Airport at 8:15 PM. All workers on the reunion flight received a 100% free ticket.

Long before the flight departed, many workers had already arrived at Tan Son Nhat Airport to prepare for their journey home. Vietnam Airlines also arranged buses from Noi Bai Airport to various transit points to help the workers reach their hometowns quickly. This support alleviated the burden on these workers and allowed them to enjoy a warm and complete Tet reunion with their families.

Vietnam Airlines' Vice General Director, Mr. Dang Anh Tuan, shared: "The applications we received were all from very difficult circumstances. Some workers have not been able to go home for many years. Some children, since birth, have never been able to visit their hometowns or meet their grandparents. Although this is not the first year we have organized this flight to help workers return home, nor the first time we have read letters like these, we are still deeply moved every time we learn about these personal stories. This is the motivation for us to organize the Dream Flight – The Reunion Journey every year."

The Dream Flight – The Reunion Journey is a continuation of the program over many years, helping alleviate the burden on workers to make their Tet holidays fuller and more complete.

The funding for the 100% flight ticket sponsorship for the workers came from a charity auction organized by Vietnam Airlines on December 5, 2023. Auction items included signature products and services from Vietnam Airlines and its partners.

Part of the Flights of Love campaign, the charity auction and the "Dream Flight – The Reunion Journey" program continue to demonstrate the leading role of Vietnam Airlines, contributing to the country's sustainable economic and social development and spreading valuable humanitarian values within the community.
