Advance Seat Selection

With advance seat selection, passengers will enjoy more space to stretch your legs or avoid sitting separately from your family or friends.

Advance seat selection applies for flights operated by Vietnam Airlines. Depending on the type of ticket (fare family), passengers may pre-reserve your seat with fees or without fees. 

- Business and Premium Economy Class: Free seat selection. 
- Economy Class:
   + Economy Flex ticket: Free seat selection. 
   + Economy Classic ticket: Free seat selection for the standard seat.
   + Economy Lite/Super Lite ticket: Passengers can pay to reserve your seat from the moment of booking until online check-in (24 hours before flight’s departure).

Note: 

  • Passengers can select seat without fees when online check-in opens.
  • Adult flying with infant is not eligible for buying advance seat (because infant must be arranged the seat with oxygen mask).

Advance seat selection in Economy Class

Passengers can choose from the following seat types to suit your travel needs:

  • Extra Legroom Seats, e.g., exit row (*) provide passengers with more space to stretch your legs.
  • Forward zone Seats (Aisle/Middle/Window) located closer to the doors allow passengers to be among the first to disembark the plane.
  • Standard Seats: Most seats in Economy class are standard seats except for seats next to emergency exit doors, or those with extra legroom.

(*)  For safety reasons, in case of seating in an exit row, passengers must meet the following requirements:

  • At least 15 and not over 60 years of age.
  • In good condition, not be pregnant, not travelling with infants or pets.
  • Be able to read and understand instructions required related to emergency evacuation, provided in printed or graphic form and be able to understand oral crew commands.
  • Not requiring an extension seat belt.
  • Not have any condition that might prevent passengers from performing any or all evacuation assistance functions (e.g. operating the exit door).

Please note that the crew in command has the authority to re-seat if there is any doubt about your ability to do the evacuation tasks.

How to reserve your seat in advance?

Advance seat selection can be made in the following ways:

  • When booking online (website, mobile app) or booking through travel agent in Vietnam (using Sabre Interact system); other agents need to access Manage Booking to reserve seat for customer).
  • After booking a flight with us, passengers can log in to Manage Booking to reserve seat.
  • Passengers can also book at our general sales agent, ticketing office, in-town check-in service.

How much will it cost?

Advance seat selection fees vary depending on the seat type selected and the flight. Prices can be found when making your booking or in Manage Booking. Fees start from:

  • On Domestic Flight: VND 30.000
  • On International Flight: USD 5 (~ VND 115.000)

Changes

Passengers may change the reserved seat, but should read the refunds section below for sufficient consideration. 

  • Passengers contact the place of purchase and pay the difference when choosing higher paid seat as seat prices vary. If passengers change to a lower priced seat, Vietnam Airlines will be unable to refund the difference.
  • Or access Manage Booking to reserve new seat and pay the full fees again if required. In that case, passengers can claim a refund as mentioned in the section below.

If passengers change the flight after reserving a seat, your seats will be chosen again on the new flight.

Refunds

When passengers cannot claim a refund?

  • Passengers cancel the flight.
  • Passengers change your flight and will be entitled to choose an equivalent seat on your new flight. If passengers don’t choose your new seats again, passengers will miss your right of seat selection from the previous flight.
  • Passengers are not eligible to sit in the seat type selected (according to safety regulations) e.g. an exit row seat.
  • It is more than 14 days since the completion of the last flight.

When passengers can claim a refund?

Passengers can claim a refund for paid seats if it is within 14 days of the completion of the last flight in your itinerary, and meet the following requirements:

  • There is an aircraft change (seat number or seat attribute is changed), or your flight has been cancelled and Vietnam Airlines cannot arrange a suitable alternative seat.
  • The connecting flight from an inbound and/or outbound flights operated by Vietnam Airlines are missed because of re-schedule.
  • Passengers buy and pay the full fees for the new seat (Passengers can claim a refund for the original advance seat selection).

Purchased seat selection can be refunded at the place of purchase.

  • If passengers purchase your preferred seat online (via website or mobile app), please contact us via onlinesupport@vietnamairlines.com.
  • If passengers purchase your preferred seat from a travel agent, please contact your travel agent.

Upgrade service offered by Vietnam Airlines will bring passengers opportunities to experience our premium in-flight services and enjoy more space for working and relaxation.


How to book your upgrade

  • Economy Flex and Economy Classic passengers can book the upgrade on Vietnam Airlines’ website/ ticket offices at any time from 24 hours to 6 hours before the estimated time of departure, or at the last-minute ticket office at the Noi Bai/Tan Son Nhat international airport from 6 hours to 1.5 hours before the estimated time of departure.
  • Upgrade service is available on our operated flights between Vietnam and France, Germany, England, Russia or Australia.

Important Information

The free baggage allowance associated with the originally booked fare will apply to the upgraded flights.

The frequent flyer mileage accrual is the same as stated in the original ticket.

The Lounge access eligibility is based on your original class.

Upgrade is not applicable to:

  • Voluntary Refund/Changes.
  • Children under two (2) years of age.
  • Passengers who have checked in.

MEET AND GREET SERVICE AT THE AIRPORT

Meet and Greet service offers to passengers departing, transferring or arriving at airports: Noi Bai (Hanoi), Danang (Danang), Tan Son Nhat (Hochiminh City). Passengers will have a smooth start, fast – track through all the airport formalities, transfer between flights and arrive at the destinations with speed and ease.

Departure with a smooth start

Our staff will welcome and escort you from the check-in hall to boarding gate:

  • Fast check-in for flight at “Special Assistance” counter.
  • Fast lane at security and immigration with assistance service. (*)
  • Lead to the boarding gate.
  • Fast receiving checked – baggage upon arrival with priority handling service.

Fast track through all the airport formalities and take you to the arrivals hall

  • Welcome upon arrival at the bridge or at the arrival terminal entrance.
  • Fast track and assistance service at immigration (international flights). (*)
  • Assistance service at baggage drop-off area.
  • Complimentary porter service from the baggage drop-off area to the outside of arrival terminal.

HOW TO GET THE RAIL AND FLY PACKAGE

1. First enter “Railway Germany” or “QYG” on the booking page under From/To location. 

2. The train departure times listed on Vietnam Airlines’ website are only an example. The actual times can be checked on https://check-in.accesrail.com.

3. Passengers receive an open ticket valid for two days. The rail journey can only be made on the day before the flight’s departure from Germany, the day of the flight’s departure or the day of the flight’s arrival in Germany and the following day.

4. Passengers will receive an additional confirmation email for your flight booking which will include your DB pick-up number. Please use this number with your name to download and print out your train ticket from www.bahn.de within 72 hours of departure or download your ticket to your mobile device at www.accesrail.com. Passengers can also print your ticket at a DB vending machine when transferring. Please note, if  the ticket has been downloaded from www.bahn.de or www.accesrail.com, passengers cannot also pick-up ticket at a DB vending machine. Passengers are required to hold the valid DB train ticket when boarding the train.

5. Your printed Rail and Fly ticket, your valid passport and your travel itinerary are the documents needed for the train journey. Please note that the train ticket can only be used in conjunction with a Vietnam Airlines’ flight (see Step 3). 

FAQ
1. How can I purchase a DB train ticket?

To purchase a DB train ticket as part of a Vietnam Airlines’ flight ticket, choose “Railway Germany (QYG)” in the dropdown menu for departure or arrival point. The train segment will be included in your itinerary. It is not possible to add train segments afterwards.

2. How do I get my train ticket?

There are two ways of obtaining your train ticket: you can download your Rail & Fly ticket onto your mobile device or get a ticket from a DB vending machine. Passengers are required to hold the valid DB train ticket when boarding the train. To download your mobile ticket, go to https://check-in.accesrail.com and enter your name and ticket number/reservation number. We recommend to print your mobile ticket just in case. Please note that if passengers choose to download Rail & Fly tickets on https://check-in.accesrail.com, the pickup option from a DB vending machine will be deactivated.

To obtain a valid train ticket from a DB vending machine passengers will give your pick-up number to receive your ticket. Passengers should receive this number by email; if not, please contact Vietnam Airlines. The train ticket fare is included in your Vietnam Airlines’ flight fare and is only valid in conjunction with your flight ticket. Train tickets are valid one day prior or on the day of departure/arrival. Make sure that DB long-distance ticket vending machines can be found at your departure station and that passengers arrive well in advance to obtain the train tickets.

Train tickets with DB pick-up numbers can be obtained at the earliest 3 days (72 hours) prior to departure. The same applies for the return journey (from the airport to your destination within Germany).

Please note that before your tickets are picked up, your itinerary will show place-holder train numbers (starting with 9B), departure points (QYG) and times for the train segment, which are not a valid ticket.

3. I want to rebook. What should I do?

If rebooking before the train ticket is collected, a new DB pick-up number will be generated. The passenger must get the new DB pick up number from airline customer service. 

If rebooking after the train ticket has been collected or downloaded, the train ticket must be changed at a DB Travel Center at the train station.

4. When can I use my train ticket?

The train tickets are valid one day prior or on the day of departure/arrival. Contact a DB Travel Center or visit https://check-in.accesrail.com for the real departure time of train connections on the actual travel date.

5. Can I reserve a seat on the train?

For train seat reservation (with a fee), contact DB Travel Center or visit https://check-in.accesrail.com for more information.

6. Will my baggage be automatically transferred between the train and the plane?

No. Passengers will need to move your luggage from the train to the airport and go through airport baggage drop and security as usual.

7. What should I do if my train is late or I miss my train?

Please visit https://www.bahn.de for details. 
Passengers should make sure the connecting time between train and flight segment is at least 2 hours. If not, Vietnam Airlines is not liable for flight and train connection.

TGV AIR with Vietnam Airlines

USEFUL ADVISES:

• The passengers must arrive at the TGV AIR counter in the departure train station at the earliest 24 hours before the departure of its train and at least 20 minutes before.
• The check-in and withdrawal of the train ticket at the TGV AIR counter before boarding the train IS COMPULSORY on both the onward and return journey. Failure to do so might result in a fine from SNCF, that can’t be reimbursed.
• On arrival at CDG airport, the passengers must check-in at Vietnam Airlines counter.
• For safety reasons, the check-in of baggage can only be done once at the airport.
