1. Brief Information on District 12
Often overlooked by casual visitors, District 12 is one of Ho Chi Minh City’s largest and most industrious districts. It’s a key logistics hub, a residential heartland for working-class communities, and a gateway connecting the city to Vietnam’s Mekong Delta.
District 12 was officially formed in 1997 and has grown into one of the city's largest and most vital administrative areas. The district played a key role in Ho Chi Minh City's suburban expansion and today stands as a hub for logistics, technology, and manufacturing.
With an area of roughly 53 square kilometers and a population exceeding 540,000 people, District 12 is home to a bustling, primarily working-class population. The area is characterized by dense residential zones near industrial parks and a vibrant daily rhythm. District 12 lies in the northwest of Ho Chi Minh City and shares borders with:
- Hoc Mon District to the north and west
- Go Vap District to the south
- Tan Binh District to the southeast
- Thu Duc City to the east
Important Notice: According to Resolution 1685/NQ-UBTVQH15, from July 1, 2025, District 12 will undergo administrative restructuring. The 11 wards will be reorganized into five new wards: An Phu Dong Ward, Dong Hung Thuan Ward, Tan Thoi Hiep Ward, Trung My Tay Ward, Thoi An Ward

District 12 is located on the city’s northwestern edge and is well connected to downtown and nearby provinces.

- From District 1: 35–45 minutes via Cach Mang Thang Tam or Nguyen Oanh
