Closing the "Touching the Flying Dream" journey with smiles and meaningful lessons
After two days of experiences in Hanoi and Hai Phong, the "Touching the Flying Dream" journey of 100 children in special circumstances closed with rewarding activities, bursts of laughter by the pool, and many beautiful memories carried along on the bus ride back to Hanoi.
On the morning of June 10, the atmosphere at Meliá Vinpearl Hai Phong Rivera hotel became bustling very early. Unlike the excitement of visiting an aircraft hangar for the first time or meeting idols the day before, this morning, what many children looked forward to most was a very special activity: swimming.
Right after breakfast, the children participated in a drowning prevention skill instruction program co-implemented by the Organizing Committee. Under the guidance of coaches and the support team, the children were equipped with basic knowledge about recognizing drowning risks, situational handling skills when encountering underwater incidents, as well as safety principles when participating in swimming activities.
Not just a skill lesson, this was also the most awaited time for many children throughout the journey. Laughter echoed across the pool area as the children excitedly took part in underwater activities with their friends.
“Out of all the activities, I like swimming in the pool the most. I have gone swimming before, but I have never swum in such a beautiful pool. Plus, we got to learn drowning prevention skills, so I really like it,” a child shared.
Not far away, another boy also excitedly recounted that he had been looking forward to this activity since the previous day. “I have been waiting since yesterday until now to swim at the hotel. I even prepared my swimsuit to participate. I feel very excited and happy,” he said.
The radiant faces and innocent laughter by the pool seemed to have become the beautiful images closing the two highly meaningful experiential days of the program.
From entering the Mausoleum to pay respect to President Ho Chi Minh for the first time, to directly looking at the airplanes at VAECO's hangar, learning to sing and dance with artists from SpaceSpeakers Group, to the emotionally charged gala night in Hai Phong, each activity left its own mark in the children's hearts.
Accompanying the program for the fourth consecutive year, Mr. Ignacio Martin, Managing Director of Meliá Hotels International for the Asia-Pacific region, shared: “We believe that sustainable development is the responsibility to accompany the community and nurture good values for future generations. Through 'The Dream Journey 2026', Meliá Hotels International is proud to spread love, bringing meaningful experiences and faith in a brighter future to the children.”
After lunch, the delegation boarded the bus to return to Hanoi, closing the two-day journey filled with various emotions. On the return bus, the atmosphere was still lively with stories about newly met friends, recently received gifts, or experiences that the children had never had before.
Implemented since 2022, "The Dream Journey" has become an annual activity of Vietnam Airlines and its partners, bringing opportunities to experience, learn, and explore to hundreds of children in special circumstances across the country. Stepping into its 5th year, the program continues to be deployed as a community activity within the sustainable development framework of Vietnam Airlines. Previously, on April 22, the National Airline announced the "Green Alliance – Sustainable Development", affirming its commitment to promoting Environmental – Social – Governance (ESG) standards in Vietnam through the companionship of partners and community initiatives.
Through the joint efforts of organizations, businesses, and partners, the program aims to create more learning, experiential, and development opportunities for children in special circumstances. This is also the way Vietnam Airlines spreads positive values to the community, alongside its mission of connecting through safe and convenient flights.
