Hanoi, April 27, 2023 – From June 15, 2023, Vietnam Airlines will launch a new Hanoi - Melbourne service on Airbus A350, operating twice a week on Thursdays and Sundays. The new route will facilitate travel for passengers looking to visit relatives, work or study in Australia's second largest city.

Accordingly, flight VN779 will depart Hanoi at 00:05 and arrive in Melbourne at 12:30; VN778 will depart Melbourne at 15:00 and arrive in Hanoi at 21:35.

From now until December 31, 2023, customers will enjoy special fare for return trip from only 645 USD (equivalent to 15,237,000 VND including taxes and fees) when purchasing ticket on the airline's website, mobile application, ticket offices and official agents.

In addition, Vietnam Airlines will offer free ticket change for passengers who already purchased ticket from Hanoi to Melbourne connecting via Ho Chi Minh City before April 30, 2023.

Once the Hanoi-Melbourne route begins, Vietnam Airlines will lead Australian expansion in the Vietnamese market, with the highest frequency between the two countries: 4 non-stop services from Hanoi/Ho Chi Minh City to Sydney/Melbourne with a total of 18 flights/week.

In 2019, Australia was Vietnam's 12th largest aviation market with a total capacity of nearly 900 thousand passengers, of which Vietnam Airlines transported more than 400 thousand passengers. In 2022, while some countries have not yet fully recovered, the number of visitors to and from Australia has risen to the 8th position among the largest markets of Vietnam. With an impressive recovery speed, Australia is currently ranked 4th among Vietnam Airlines' most important markets. The airline is actively looking to increase the frequency and open new routes to Australia.
