Vietnam Airlines Partners with UN Women to Operate Special "HeForShe" Flight

The event was organized by Vietnam Airlines in collaboration with UN Women, the Ministry of the Interior, and the Vietnam Women Entrepreneurs Council (VWEC), with the support of two businesses, Vinapharma and Vinanutrifood.

This special flight is part of a cooperation agreement between Vietnam Airlines and UN Women for the period of 2024-2027, aimed at spreading the message of gender equality and women’s empowerment (GEWE) to passengers across the airline’s network. The activity is particularly meaningful as it coincides with Vietnam Airlines’ 30th anniversary in 2025.

With representatives from Vietnam Airlines, UN Women, the Ministry of the Interior, VWEC, and two partner businesses, Vinapharma and Vinanutrifood, flight VN310 became a powerful journey to connect and spread the message of gender equality, while honoring the roles and contributions of women in modern society.

At Noi Bai Airport, the check-in area was “painted pink” with banners, standees, and a photo booth promoting the message “Gender Equality – For the Women Around Us.” Passengers on the flight received pink HeForShe T-shirts featuring the logos of Vietnam Airlines and UN Women, symbolizing solidarity and sharing. Media videos about gender equality and women's safety in the digital age were shown in the waiting area, creating a warm and inspiring atmosphere.

Onboard, the captain gave a special greeting to passengers, sharing the significance of the flight and calling for action towards gender equality. Passengers were served HeForShe-themed meals and received brief informational materials on gender equality and digital safety.

Upon landing in Tokyo, Vietnam Airlines' representatives in Japan welcomed passengers with a banner saying, “A Warm Welcome to Passengers on the HeForShe Flight – Gender Equality for the Women Around Us,” concluding the journey with a message of connection and humanity.

Mr. Đỗ Đông Hưng, Head of Communications at Vietnam Airlines, shared: "The HeForShe flight is part of Vietnam Airlines' long-term commitment to promoting gender equality and sustainable development. The airline aims to spread a spirit of compassion, sharing, and honoring the contributions of women in all areas of life."

In recent years, Vietnam Airlines and UN Women have collaborated on several meaningful initiatives, such as the “Orange Flight” supporting the 16 Days of Activism to End Gender-Based Violence Campaign, helping raise awareness and promote genuine gender equality in the community.

Through this annual series of activities in partnership with UN Women, the Ministry of the Interior, VWEC, and businesses, Vietnam Airlines continues to affirm its role as a pioneering airline in sustainable development and social responsibility, spreading a compassionate pink message from Vietnam to the world.
