Hanoi, May 11 , 2018 - Vietnam Airlines will transfer operations at Baiyun International Airport, Guangzhou (China) to the new T2 terminal from May 19, 2018. The operation of the

terminal will further enhance overall improvement of Vietnam Airlines' ground service and provide a seamless experience for passengers traveling between Guangzhou and Vietnam.

The new terminal, built on an area of 880,700 square meters, is one of the largest terminals in China with a capacity of 45 million passengers a year. Compared with the former T1 terminal, the T2 terminal inherits the unique artistic design of the "white cloud", but is more equipped with modern features such as facial recognition at immigration procedure, check in counters, automatic baggage conveyor. The spacious, convenient structure of the terminal will make it easier for passengers to transfer between different areas.

At the terminal, Vietnam Airlines will run 9 check-in counters from 25 to 33 at N land. Fast track services for Platinum LotuSmile members and Business Class passengers will be applied at the new terminal. Business lounge located on the 4th floor with an area of 4,200 square meters will also be available to serve LotuSmile members and Business Class passengers of Vietnam Airlines from May 19.

Since the new terminal is located 1 km away from the old terminal and covers a particularly large area, Vietnam Airlines has now put the news on 3 languages (English, Chinese and Vietnamese) at the old terminal to instruct passengers and avoid confusion following the switch. It is recommended that passengers should arrive at least 2 hours before departure to complete the procedures. Airport authorities will arrange staff to assist passengers at T2 and also increase the frequency of buses serving passengers transferring in the airport.

Besides Vietnam Airlines,  there are five SkyTeam members operating at T2 terminal including China Southern Airlines, Air France, China Airlines, Aeroflot and Korean Air. The simultaneous change with SkyTeam members will enable Vietnam Airlines to maintain the overall efficiency of SkyTeam’services (SkyPriority, SkyTransfer, lounge ...) at Baiyun Airport.

Currently, Vietnam Airlines runs three direct services between Hanoi / Ho Chi Minh City / Da Nang - Guangzhou with 17 flights per week. In 2017, Vietnam Airlines recorded an impressive number of passengers transported between Vietnam and Guangzhou of nearly one million passengers - an increase of nearly 28% over the same period last year.
