Due to the complicated situations of Covid-19, Temasek Foundation in Singapore offered 10 ventilators in order to support the patients with Covid-19 in Vietnam. The machines were transported to Hanoi on 29th March by Vietnam Airlines.
To make the transportation swiftly and safely, Vietnam Airlines branch in Singapore (VNSG) worked closely with headquarters to coordinate the operation. In order for the operation to take place, the headquarters had expeditiously cleared the revenue approval. VNSG had also worked with the stakeholders in Changi Airport to ensure that the flight plan was approved and the ground handling team assembled in time.
For the Temasek Foundation cargo to be transported on flight VN6662/29th March on time, Vietnam Embassy processed the request for VNA to transport the cargo. They helped VNSG Marketing team, led by GM Tran Thi Thu Hien connect with many enterprises in Singapore. Temasek had been attempting to arrange for their own cargo flight; however their attempts were futile until VNA was involved. Both sides worked out things quickly and in just 3 days, all preparations are in place in order for the cargo to take off on time.
As the ventilators were classified as dangerous goods, VNSG cargo agents had ensured that the packing of each of the pallet and the loading process was in compliance with IATA DGR regulations.
Upon receiving the airway bill for the flight, VNA operation team had observed and immediately cascaded the information to the ground handlers and cargo agents to ensure that the equipment and manpower were allocated for the said operation. VNSG ground team handled all documentations and the ground handling works were coordinated smoothly.
“The most important factor that made this operation success was our dynamic and active cargo agents, at the same time the support of headquarters and the team’s will power were invaluable." said VNSG’s General Manager Tran Thi Thu Hien.
“Amidst the uncertainty of Covid-19 in the region, we are proud to be part of such an operation, where bilateral cooperation between two countries are facilitated smoothly by our airlines, even when manpower was scarce due to the pandemic.” shared Nurul Adilah – VNSG Duty Manager directly involved in the operation.
“We will come back stronger than ever before and we most definitely can't wait to soar the beautiful skies together with all of you.” shared VNSG Marketing Team.
