Vietnam Airlines is honored to have contributed to the journey of "The Special Return."
56 years ago, on 11/11/1967, at the height of Hill 724 - one of the fiercely fighting positions, former US soldier Peter Mathews found this diary in an abandoned backpack of his Vietnamese army. At the end of his military service, he left Vietnam and returned to his homeland, bringing with him the war diary of a liberator.
For more than half a century of keeping a war diary, American veterans have always struggled to be returned to their true owners. With the active help of Ha Tinh provincial authorities, the identity of the owner of the diary has been determined.
In March 2023, Mr. Peter Mathews was on his way back to Vietnam on a Vietnam Airlines flight to return the diary to the relatives of liberation soldier Cao Van Tuat. The "special return" of the diary - a precious war document is not only meaningful to the country but also has great meaning to the relatives of martyr Cao Van Tuat because it is a sacred keepsake. the only one left.
Let's share with Vietnam Airlines a meaningful documentary to commemorate the great merits of heroes and martyrs who fell for the country's independence and freedom!
