Vietnam Airlines has been awarded the Human Act Prize in the category of "The Persevering Project – From Golden Lotus with Love."

11/12/2023

Throughout its development journey, as Vietnam's national flag carrier, Vietnam Airlines has made active contributions to the sustainable development of society through various community-oriented activities. For years, the airline has regularly organized and participated in social initiatives such as sponsoring surgeries for children with facial deformities; auctioning items to fund special Tet flights for underprivileged workers; supporting children orphaned by the COVID-19 pandemic; transporting donated organs for life-saving transplants; and organizing community arts events like the Vietnam Airlines Classic – Hanoi Concert and Monsoon Music Festival.

Among these efforts, the “From Golden Lotus with Love” project stands out as a flagship initiative launched in 2022. The program extends humanitarian outreach by inviting LotuSmiles members to donate their frequent flyer miles, which are then converted into flight tickets, seat upgrades, baggage services, or partner-provided non-air services. These contributions support charitable efforts led by domestic and international organizations. The program includes a variety of meaningful activities, such as: funding surgeries to restore smiles for children with cleft lip and palate; facilitating professional training for Vietnamese doctors; supporting environmental protection and climate change efforts.

Mr. Đặng Anh Tuấn, Deputy CEO of Vietnam Airlines, shared:

“Vietnam Airlines is honored to receive the Human Act Prize for the ‘From Golden Lotus with Love’ project. This is a meaningful recognition from the community and experts for our continued efforts. We are proud to be the pioneering airline in launching a frequent flyer mile donation initiative. Since its launch, the project has gathered 7.2 million donated miles, which have been converted into both air and non-air services to support charitable activities. We will continue to grow and enhance the project to bring even greater humanitarian value to the community and society.”

The Human Act Prize is evaluated based on several criteria, including its impact, sustainability, commitment level, creativity, and influence within the community. The "Persevering Project" category, in particular, emphasizes long-term sustainability, continuous efforts, clear commitment and strategy, financial and human resource investment, and long-term growth.
