With the pet transport service, passengers can take their pets to cabin or have them transported as checked baggage.

Flying with your pet as your checked baggage

Vietnam Airlines offer service for passengers traveling with pets on the same flight. Your pets will be delivered as checked baggage. This service is available subject to specific aircraft.

Planning for travel with your pet

Passengers traveling with pet as checked baggage should contact Vietnam Airlines branches for advanced reservations. It is required to make the service request at least 24 hours before their departure time.

Checking immigration/exit regulations

Checking pets as luggage or taking them on board depends on the legal and quarantine systems of each country/region. Passengers need to prepare the necessary documents before checking in at the airport. The documents include exit quarantine certificate, medical certificate, entry certificate, etc. and must be confirmed by the departure country/region and quarantine station in the arrival country/region, embassy, etc.

UK government regulations

  • For flights to UK: Pets are not accepted in the passenger cabin or as checked baggage, and only accepted as manifest cargo;
  • For flights departing from UK: Pets are not accepted in the passenger cabin and only accepted as checked baggage or manifest cargo.

Passengers must contact the appropriate  quarantine office, embassy or consulate to confirm all necessary documents such as import/export permit, quarantine certificates, health certificates and rabies immunization reports. Passengers can refer information here

Restrictions for pets

We have temperature restrictions to make sure your pet isn’t exposed to extreme heat or cold. Accordingly, in case of special weather circumstances, passengers cannot travel with a pet if the current or forecasted temperature is too hot or too cold at any location on their itinerary.

Final acceptance for carriage of pet on board is subject to captain's approval. Passengers is fully informed about this in advance. They should be aware of all risks of pet carriage such as injury, sickness or death during carriage, even in case their pets are moved from cabin to cargo compartment due to the captain's approval.

At the airport

Passengers are required to be present at the airport early enough to complete all procedures before flight. Vietnam Airlines recommends passengers arrive at least two hours prior to their scheduled departure time.

At the airport, passengers will be required to sign the “Waiver of responsibility” form. Passengers can also prepare this form in advance by downloading here, complete it and bring this form to the check in counter.

Service Dog

Permitted on board at no cost for accompanying their owner, passengers with disabilities. The dog must sit in front of the passenger. Advanced reservation for service dogs is required. Documents required are mentioned above.
