Vietnam Airlines Spreads the Message: "Release Fish, Not Plastic Bags"
In response to the "Action for Kitchen Gods' Day 2026" campaign, the Youth Union of Vietnam Airlines coordinated with the Bo De Ward Youth Union and the Keep Vietnam Clean (KVC) organization to implement a series of environmental protection activities under the theme: "Release Fish, Not Plastic Bags – Green the Water, Welcome Peace."
The program, which took place in Bo De Ward (Hanoi) with a major kick-off on February 10, 2026, attracted a large number of youth union members from various units. Activities were simultaneously deployed at multiple points along the riverbank, creating a synchronized movement by Vietnam Airlines' youth toward a civilized, green, and clean Lunar New Year season.
At areas such as Bo De Pagoda, Ghenh Temple, Alley 2 Phu Vien, and Ngoc Lam Wharf, youth members assisted citizens in releasing fish properly, collected and sorted waste after the rituals, and campaigned to limit plastic bag use and prevent the dumping of joss paper ashes or ritual offerings into rivers and lakes. The Vietnam Airlines Youth Union was specifically in charge of the Alley 2 Phu Vien area at the foot of Chuong Duong Bridge, directly participating in environmental cleanup, plastic waste collection, and guiding citizens toward eco-friendly traditional practices.
Alongside field activities, the program integrated education on the harmful effects of joss paper ashes and plastic waste on the environment and human health. These sharing sessions helped the community understand the risks of water pollution, microplastics, and long-term ecological impact, thereby raising awareness of environmental preservation during festive occasions.
Furthermore, all collected waste was gathered at the Bo De Garbage Compression Station for proper sorting and processing according to environmental regulations. This systematic approach - synchronized collection, centralized transportation, and regulated processing - contributed to urban aesthetics and prevented floating waste from drifting into the Red River, demonstrating the professional and responsible methodology of the participating forces.
Through this series of activities, Vietnam Airlines' youth continued to demonstrate their pioneering spirit and social responsibility. By partnering with local authorities in environmental initiatives, they helped spread the image of the National Flag Carrier's employees as active contributors to social activities and sustainable development goals.
The campaign is more than just a volunteer activity; it transforms the "green living" spirit and environmental consciousness into concrete actions, spreading civilized behavior during traditional holidays. As such, the program serves as a bridge between the enterprise and the community in preserving the living environment, ensuring that every small action by the youth today contributes to sustainable values for the future.
