The Union’s Tet Journey: Deep in Compassion, Full of Faith
Every Tet season, alongside the joy of reunion, millions of migrant workers remain far from home, carefully saving every penny and meticulously planning every trip in hopes of returning to their families.
Driven by this reality, programs such as the Union Flight, Union Train, and Union Bus have been implemented as journeys of compassion, bringing workers back to their families for the Tet reunion days.
Year after year, the scale of these programs has continuously expanded in terms of the number of trips, connectivity networks, and beneficiaries. In 2023, the Union Flight supported only 80 to 100 workers. By Tet 2025, that number rose to 450, with Vietnam Airlines sponsoring 50 tickets for the Ho Chi Minh City – Hanoi route.
Continuing this journey for Tet 2026 (Year of the Horse), the Union Flight is expected to bring over 550 workers home for reunion through three dedicated flights connecting Ho Chi Minh City with key transport gateways in the North and Central regions. Specifically, the VGCL is providing 500 tickets, while Vietnam Airlines is sponsoring 50 free tickets for workers in particularly difficult circumstances. Furthermore, the airline is applying a discount policy and prioritizing seat allocation for flights organized by the VGCL amidst the peak Tet travel season.
Additionally, the Ho Chi Minh City Confederation of Labour continues to support another 500 tickets, further expanding opportunities for local workers to return home. These flights are scheduled to depart on February 12, 2026 (the 25th day of the 12th lunar month), during the absolute peak of the Tet season.
To ensure every flight is a truly complete reunion journey, Vietnam Airlines' entire system—from flight operations to ground services—has been synchronized. This includes specialized check-in counters, unique welcoming procedures, and a formal send-off ceremony at Tan Son Nhat International Airport, all within a cabin space imbued with the spirit of the Vietnamese Tet. Every detail is designed to make workers feel respected and cherished from the very first moment.
Parallel to the Union Flights are the Union Trains, offering 2,000 round-trip tickets along with Tet gifts, coordinated by local authorities and the Vietnam Railway Trade Union. These are accompanied by thousands of Union Buses across the country—all sharing a single mission: bringing workers home.
Each Union flight, train, and bus does more than just transport workers; it carries faith, cohesion, social responsibility, and human kindness. These journeys serve as a foundation of support, allowing workers to feel secure and committed to their enterprises and society in the long run.
