The 5-year journey of "The Dream Journeys"

There are trips that are simply moving from one place to another. But there are also journeys that carry opportunities to experience, explore, and open up new perspectives on life. For many children in difficult circumstances, that is sometimes something not easily obtained…

From the first trips to a persistent 5-year journey

Not every child has the opportunity to go far, explore new lands, or participate in experiential activities outside their familiar living environment. For many children in difficult circumstances, a trip is sometimes a luxury.

Stemming from the desire to give children opportunities to learn, interact, and broaden their understanding, Vietnam Airlines and its partners initiated "The Dream Journey" program in 2022. Five years is not too long a period, but it is enough for a community activity to transcend the framework of a conventional charity event to become a persistent journey, bringing meaningful experiences to many children across the country.

Since its initiation in 2022, "The Dream Journey" has been built upon a simple idea: every child deserves the opportunity to experience, discover the world around them, and nurture their own dreams. Over the past years, the program has passed through many localities such as Nha Trang, Vung Tau, and Da Nang, bringing opportunities to participate in cultural, artistic, educational, and life skills activities to hundreds of children in especially difficult circumstances.

Each journey is designed with different themes. Some years target green experiential activities, helping children learn about the environment and sustainable lifestyles; other years focus on cultural exchanges, exploring nature, or developing personal skills. Regardless of the different approaches, the common point of the programs is to create a space for children to learn, connect, and become more confident in themselves.

One of the special features of "The Dream Journey" is the combination of experience, education, and art. In the programs, the children not only visit and play but also immerse themselves in musical and creative activities, interacting with artists and volunteers. Those experiences contribute to helping the children become more confident and bolder in communication and self-expression.

Throughout the 5-year journey, the Organizing Committee has also received hundreds of stories and shared articles from the community about meaningful trips across all regions of the country. There are journeys returning to roots, trips fulfilling the wishes of loved ones, and volunteer trips coming to children in remote and isolated areas. It is these stories that have contributed to spreading the spirit of sharing and the humanistic values that the program aims for.

"Touching the Flying Dream" and values beyond a single trip

Stepping into its 5th year, Vietnam Airlines has joined hands with partners SpaceSpeakers Group, Meliá Hotels International, and the Vietnam Children’s Fund Social Enterprise (Heartbeat Vietnam) to organize "The Dream Journey 2026" under the theme "Touching the Flying Dream", which will be held for 100 orphans and children in difficult circumstances in Hanoi.

Taking place over two days, June 9 and 10, 2026, this year's journey selects a meaningful route connecting Hanoi and Hai Phong, creating a comprehensive scenario between education, entertainment, and life skills development so that every step the children take leaves footprints of brilliant memories.

During the two days of the program, the children will visit the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum to learn about his life and career, while participating in many experiential activities in Hanoi and Hai Phong. A special highlight of this year's journey is the visit to the aircraft hangar of VAECO Aircraft Engineering Company. Here, the children will have the opportunity to access the actual working environment of the aviation industry, learn about the aircraft maintenance process, and interact with the engineering team and youth union members of Vietnam Airlines.

Behind every safe flight is the silent work of many people. Being able to directly observe the aviation technical environment not only helps the children understand more about a specific occupational field but also contributes to expanding their awareness of career opportunities in the future.

In addition to experiential activities, the program also features an artistic exchange space with the participation of artists from SpaceSpeakers Group. This occasion also marks the 5-year milestone of companionship by the partners with the program. The Gala night organized in Hai Phong is considered one of the highlights of the journey. Not only is it an occasion to look back on the path traveled, but the program also carries the meaning of connecting organizations, businesses, and individuals who share the desire to contribute to the community through practical activities for children.

The second day of the journey will be dedicated to collective activities and skills education. Through physical games, critical thinking challenges, and team activities, the children will be trained in coordination, communication, and working together. The program also integrates instructional content on drowning prevention skills, an issue that society pays special attention to regarding children. Closing the journey, the children will receive certificates of participation in the "Touching the Flying Dream" program, carrying with them new experiences and memorable recollections.

"The Dream Journey 2026" is one of the community activities implemented within the framework of the Green Alliance – Sustainable Development initiated by Vietnam Airlines. Launched on April 22, 2026, on Earth Day, the Green Alliance is built on a voluntary cooperation model, aiming to connect domestic and international partners to coordinate resources and implement sustainable development initiatives across three pillars: environment, social, and governance (ESG), with Vietnam Airlines holding the role of coordinator and connector.

Alongside the objectives of emission reduction and environmental protection, the Green Alliance also aims to improve quality of life and create positive values for the community through practical social programs. Among them, "The Dream Journey 2026" is a typical activity for the joint efforts of Vietnam Airlines and its alliance partners to bring learning, experiential, and development opportunities to children in difficult circumstances.
