Airport check-in

Vietnam Airlines provides useful information to help passengers actively check in at the airport including: check-in time, required documents and some other notes.

Documents to prepare

Before approaching the check-in counter, passengers are encouraged to prepare their tickets and identity documents. Please refer to Travel Documents section for more details.

Guide for airport check-in

  • Step 1: Check in at the Vietnam Airlines counter
  • Passengers can look up check-in counter information on the electronic boards at the airport, then go to Vietnam Airlines check-in counters and present the flight tickets and travel documents. Staff at the check-in counter will check the information on the tickets, print boarding pass, check in baggage (if applicable), and provide guidance such as boarding gate number, boarding time, etc.

  • Step 2: Entry/exit procedures and security check
  • After entry/exit procedures (for international flights only), carry-on baggage and carry-on items such as watches, belts, backpacks, bags, etc will be screened by security staffs. Please refer to restricted items for carriage or conditional carriage items here.

  • Step 3: Move to the boarding gate
  • All passengers move to the boarding gate. After having the boarding passes and travel documents checked, passengers will get on the aircraft and take the correct seats as specified in the boarding passes.

Check-in time

Check-in time varies from domestic to international flights operated by Vietnam Airlines:
  • Check-in time for domestic flights is from 02 hours to 40 minutes before departure time.
  • Check-in time for international flights is from 03 hours to 50 minutes before departure time. However, check-in counters for Vietnam Airlines flights at Kuala Lumpur – Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KUL), Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG), Frankfurt Airport (FRA), Heathrow Airport (LHR) and San Francisco (SFO) will close 60 minutes before to departure time.

Check-in for cooperation flights

Customers should check in at the operator's counter if they purchase tickets under code-share agreement between Vietnam Airlines and another carrier, in which the other carrier operates the flight. Passengers should carefully review the information on their tickets and the operator's website to determine the precise opening and closing time of the check-in counters.

Some notes when proceeding check-in

• In case of scheduled change, the check-in counter's opening and closing time will be changed accordingly.
• In order to complete the flight processes, passengers are advised to arrive at the airport in time.
• After the check-in counter closes, baggages are not accepted and passengers are refused to board.
