From 01 December 2019, Vietnam Airlines’ passengers departing from Nagoya airport (Japan) will not have to wait while checking in by using the automatic check-in kiosks installed at the airport. This is the fifth airport in Japan and eleventh in the world to be chosen by Vietnam Airlines to offer this convenient service.
Accordingly, passengers can use kiosks to select seats and have boarding passes printed from 24 hours to 60 minutes prior to the scheduled departure time. Passengers without checked baggage can go straight to the security gate and boarding gate after getting their printed boarding passes.
Passengers with checked baggage, or requesting special services (excluding those requesting special meal), or traveling with infants under 2 years old, or traveling in groups are required to follow the usual check-in procedures at the counter.
Kiosk check-in and online check-in services are becoming popular in the world thanks to their initiative, convenience, and contribution to reducing airport infrastructure pressure. Passengers of Vietnam Airlines can now utilize check-in kiosks in Noi Bai, Da Nang and Tan Son Nhat airports in Vietnam; Narita, Haneda, Kansai, Fukuoka and Nagoya airports in Japan; Incheon airport in Korea; Frankfurt airport in Germany and Heathrow airport in the UK.
According to statistics of Vietnam Airlines, nearly 40% of its passengers on average departing from the most crowded airports in Vietnam like Noi Bai, Da Nang, and Tan Son Nhat airports check-in through website, mobile application, and kiosks. At peak times, this proportion usually reaches 50%. By taking advantage of these new check-in methods, passengers do not have to wait in a long queue and airports will become less congested.
