Social Security Free Flights for Workers to Return Home for Tết 27/05/2025 Excitement and Sleepless Nights for the Free Flights Home for Tết The excitement, tears of joy, and sleepless nights due to the anticipation of reuniting with family are the feelings of many individuals who have been granted free flight tickets to return home for Tết Ất Tỵ this year. Workers and Their Families Eager to Return Home for Tết Ất Tỵ Amid the bustling crowds heading home for Tết at Tan Son Nhat Airport on January 25 (26th of the 12th lunar month), Nguyen Thi Nga, 39, from Hai Duong and a worker at Baria Serece Joint Stock Company (Bà Rịa - Vũng Tàu), shared: “When I heard that the union department at my company would support a Vietnam Airlines flight ticket to go home for Tết, I was so happy I could cry. I immediately called my parents to share the good news. It’s been three years since I last visited them.” Due to difficult circumstances, Nguyen had to leave her hometown to work in the South. Her parents, both nearly 80 years old and suffering from underlying health conditions, have been eagerly waiting for their children to return. Her family struggles, with her husband working as a freelancer, and she being the sole breadwinner, taking care of three young children, one of whom has a neck tumor and frequently needs hospital visits. Given these challenges, traveling home by plane during the Tết peak season was something she never thought possible. Joy Written on the Faces of Those Heading Home to Reunite with Their Families Sharing in the joy of returning home after four years, Nguyễn Công Bình, 38, from Thanh Hóa, a worker at MJ Apparel Company (Đồng Nai), said, “Going back to see my parents is like truly bringing Tết closer. This is the happiest year because I was selected to receive one of the free tickets to fly home. I’ve been waiting for this moment to talk to my parents and hold my grandparents’ hands, just like when I was a child.” Early Tết Celebration with “Union Flight – Spring 2025” To assist workers in difficult situations, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, in cooperation with Vietnam Airlines, organized special flights called “Union Flight – Spring 2025” to bring 450 workers back to their hometowns for Tết. Vietnam Airlines also worked with Tan Son Nhat Airport to set up a dedicated security check lane for passengers on these special flights. The flights, departing on January 25, included VN7082 from Ho Chi Minh City to Vinh and VN7220 from Ho Chi Minh City to Hanoi. The program is designed to bring migrant workers back home to reunite with their families and fully enjoy the joy of the traditional Tết celebration in 2025. A Regular Event That Brings Families Together for Tết This is an annual initiative by Vietnam Airlines, aiming to ensure that, after a year of hard work, everyone has the opportunity to return to their families and share the joy of reunion, enjoying the sacred moments of the traditional Tết holiday. Ms. Trần Thị Thanh Hà, Head of the Policy, Law, and Labor Relations Department of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, shared that about 45,000 people were connected through this program, with various transport units (aviation, trains, buses) helping people return home for Tết. A Special Gesture for Workers After 22 Years Without Tết Interestingly, some workers have not been able to return home for Tết for over 22 years. “This is a very meaningful activity, motivating workers and contributing to the development of businesses and society,” said Ms. Trần Thị Thanh Hà. Mr. Đặng Anh Tuấn, Deputy General Director of Vietnam Airlines, stated: “Each flight during Tết is not just about traveling from one place to another, but a journey back to the roots, to family, and to love.” Vietnam Airlines hopes that these flights will help workers feel the community's care and support. The airline wishes to spread humanistic values, fostering the spirit of solidarity and mutual assistance in society. “Union Flight – Spring 2025” reflects Vietnam Airlines’ social responsibility, bringing meaningful values to the community. Thanks to these flights of goodwill, many families have been able to enjoy the full joy of reunion. This is also the gift Vietnam Airlines and the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor have given to workers, ushering in a new year full of love and happiness.
