From Vietnam to China
Before departure, passengers need to fully prepare the necessary documents required for flying from Vietnam to international destinations, such as air tickets, valid passports, and forms of identification. In addition, passengers flying from Vietnam to China should be aware of the following document requirements.
Passport
According to regulations, passenger passports must be valid for 6 months from the expected date of entry into China and have 2 blank pages.
Visa
Vietnamese citizens need a valid visa to enter China. Tourist visas are denoted by “L”. Individual travelers can apply for a single-entry (valid for 3 months), double-entry (valid for 3 to 6 months), or multiple-entry (valid for 6 months or 1 year) tourist visa based on their requirements. Entry declaration form
The entry form will be distributed and filled out during the flight or at the arrival airport.
Foreign visitors to Shanghai must complete a pre-arrival declaration related to immigration information. Passengers are kindly requested to visit the online declaration page to complete the declaration before entry.
Quarantine regulations
Currently, China no longer requires vaccination proof. Accordingly, passengers traveling in China are not required to take a Covid-19 test or provide proof of immunization.
Cash regulations
According to regulations, if you enter China with cash worth USD 5,000 (or RMB 20,000) or more, you must disclose it to customs.
Pet regulations
Passengers bringing pets to China should be aware of the following:
- Only dogs and cats are permitted entry into China.
- Each passenger entering the country can carry 1 pet in 1 cage.
- Pets should be microchipped.
Notes: Pets must have an animal health clinical examination certificate provided by the official authority of the departing country or region within 14 days of arrival in China.

Regulations on food, meat, and plants
China has very tight regulations for bringing food, meat, or plants into the country. Passengers should visit the Customs Clearance Guide for International Passengers web page for more detailed information before departure.
Notes: Vietnam Airlines collects and updates country entry information to offer passengers helpful information to help them plan for a pleasant flight. However, the actual regulations may change, so passengers should carefully research information from competent authorities in the destination country.
